Chicago Chicago

I was in Chicago May 12th through May 17th. There were almost as many weather events as there were days. From the 22nd floor of the Blackstone hotel, I saw many from a bird’s eye view. Others, from the streets and river.

I didn’t bring my professional photo gear. I shot all of these on my iPhone.

Brilliant blue skies

A severe thunderstorm

This storm even included a tornado watch. As it exited downtown, it left a wet red cinematic glow in the canopy of rooftops.

Also, a severe dust storm

All of our phones were altered at the same time as the National Weather Service pushed out an audible severe dust storm warning that read, “IMPACT…Dangerous life-threatening travel.”

More than just the weather

There were other amazing things about Chicago, like the people and the food. Here are a few non-weather-related images from the week.

The great Devil Dawgs. Hotdogs and smashburgers good enough for Anthony Bourdain.
