Public safety is not an excuse for evil.

I think of this today, Martin Luther King Day. This exhibit at the National Civil Rights Museum reminds us that public safety is no excuse for evil. When "public safety" is invoked by those in power we should ask if it's their power they seek to preserve rather than the public's safety.
